Four Fun Things: Local Authors
There’s been a lot of discussions lately about the importance of shopping locally and keeping our hard-earned money in our community. There has also been a lot of talk about sticking close to home to help combat the spread of the virus. Perhaps you are feeling a little bored at home so we’ve come up with a list of local authors to support while breaking the boredom with some new books. Here are four of our favorite local authors.
Former Assistant Director of the Everett Public Library, Carole Etsby Dagg tells the story of her great-aunt and great-grandmother’s 1896 walk from Washington State to New York City in “The Year We Were Famous.” She has also authored Sweet Home Alaska, a historical fiction book for middle schoolers.
Richard Porter from the Delta Neighborhood in Everett is a young wordsmith who transforms the look and feels of life in the Pacific Northwest into lovely words in his self-published book “The Spar Tree”. He also tells some great stories of past Everett neighbors in “Smokestackers!: A History of Everett, WA.”
South Everett writer C. A. Fraser has a series of sci-fi/fantasy called “The Quantum Wars.” You can purchase them in paperback and they are available online for free with Kindle Unlimited. He also has a poetry book called American Angst where he explores what it is to be American.
Deb Fox took her experience as a storyboard illustrator for music videos and commercials and created a graphic novel. With beautifully detailed illustrations, her book, “Everett Massacre - A Graphic Novel”, tells the story of the 1916 labor dispute that led to the deaths of 7 people.
