Four Fun Things: Break Out of Your Routine
It seems like we’ve been staying home and staying safe for a long time amidst this coronavirus outbreak. We miss seeing our friends and extended family socially and our everyday routines can get tiresome. We have a few new ideas to help you liven things up.
Master Zoom
Zoom is free and a very easy to use web platform that allows you to videoconference. Kindergarteners and grandparents alike are using Zoom these days so why not plan a fun online meetup with friends or family? Maybe a cocktail hour or a fun game night. An online search for “Zoom Games” will give you a ton of options including virtual bingo and a fun Pictionary word generator.
Picnic
Sometimes a change of scenery is nice. The weather is getting nicer so why not lay out a blanket in your yard and eat al fresco? It will be way easier than packing everything into the car for a picnic and if someone forgets something, it is just a few steps away. Better yet, order take out from a restaurant you haven’t tried before. Check out this article for links to restaurants doing takeout.
Plant Something
Everyone seems to be gardening this year. It is an activity that gets you out of the house and into the therapeutic dirt, and picking your dinner from the back yard is very rewarding. If you aren’t into gardening or are a little leary of jumping in, consider just planting a few seeds. Lettuce is very easy to grow and you can use almost any container that has holes for water to drain. If you aren’t into salad, plant sunflowers. You will have joyful flowers to look at all summer. In the fall, pull the root cluster out of the ground and be done with gardening for the year. We bet you’ll excitedly plant sunflowers again next year.
Mix Things Up
Breakfast for dinner? How about dinner for breakfast with last night’s leftovers? It seems that many people are going out for daily walks, try switching up your route by going the opposite direction. You’ll be surprised at all the things you don’t normally see. Stay in your PJs all day, unless of course, you are already doing that.
Trying something new is always a good way to liven up your routine. Whatever you decide to do, please be kind to yourself and remember that even though we are all separate, we are in this together.
